SC upholds law - Villagers with more than 2 kids can't become sarpanch.


And I thought it was never possible. Now although I know people will still work their way around this law, but it's still a great beginning. I have always been a great supporter of a law that will put a restriction on the number of kids people can have.

This kind of a law will quite possibly create one problem though. Any expansion of such a law to include the whole population can have dangerous consequences. Those who have a lot of kids just hoping to have a son may try to get rid of their daughter simply so that they can still try for a son without having too many kids. And in the Indian society, that is very likely to become a trend. Such thoughts make me sad. But anyway, for now lets just enjoy the fact that some government has taken this initiative.
