Australian Citizenship

I've always felt a bit strange about becoming an Australian Citizen. Not that it will change what I am as a person or that it'll change the way I feel about my homeland.. but it just has some kind of a psychological effect. The very thought that I’ll need a visa to visit my own country is devastating. So long time ago, I decided that I’ll never give up my Indian Citizenship for Australian Citizenship.

But I finally applied to become an Australian Citizen when the Indian Government announced that Indians living in Australia will be allowed to have dual citizenship. It's been a while since I applied for Australian Citizenship and they’ve finally called me up for an interview and today, I attended that interview. It was the most stupid thing I’ve ever seen. A total waste of time, money and resources. I mean.. what sense does it make to ask me.. “if there was an election to elect the federal government in Australia, what would you do on the voting day?” Like dah.. “I’ll vote..!” And then there were another 2-3 questions.. just as stupid as that. I just couldn’t understand the purpose of this interview. It was even more annoying for me since I took a day off from my new job that I started just yesterday.

O well, I just hope they don’t muck around too much with the dual citizenship thing.. coz I can’t afford to lose Indian Citizenship.
