NEWS OF THE DAY:
SC upholds law - Villagers with more than 2 kids can't become sarpanch.

And I thought it was never possible. Now although I know people will still work their way around this law, but it's still a great beginning. I have always been a great supporter of a law that will put a restriction on the number of kids people can have.

This kind of a law will quite possibly create one problem though. Any expansion of such a law to include the whole population can have dangerous consequences. Those who have a lot of kids just hoping to have a son may try to get rid of their daughter simply so that they can still try for a son without having too many kids. And in the Indian society, that is very likely to become a trend. Such thoughts make me sad. But anyway, for now lets just enjoy the fact that some government has taken this initiative.

O God… it's almost the end of another disastrous day at work. I don't normally complain about my work-peers, however I must do so today. And no matter how bad this may sound, but I generally don't enjoy working with women, and today was almost as bad as it gets. My supervisor pissed me and Terry (my other work mate) off so much that Terry finished his day saying "Tomorrow better be F#$&i*g better than today". She just pushed it to the limit today.

Working is not normal for Grace (my supervisor). She normally comes to work about an hour late and leaves an hour earlier, which cuts her 8 hour shift down to 6. But today she showed up half an hour earlier than the start of her shift and told me it was new Grace. And what a Grace it turned out to be…! She got so frustrated with the amount of work there was to be done that at one stage she said so someone, "It has been chaotic today"... we just wondered if she's ever seen us dealing with the same amount of work everyday..! Obviously not. Her frustration got better of her again when she TOLD ME OFF for JOKING.

But then again, maybe it's just us... maybe we're too used to seeing her not do anything, and often not seeing here at all. So we probably forgot what it is like working with her.

Two of the worse things about women at work are that they whine about little things, and secondly they can panic quite easily under pressure. I understand that this is not the case with every woman, but I'm speaking from personal experience. But anyway, I'll shut up here before many of you start whining about me being judgemental and generalising and stuff..!

Rachel, Thanks for your post. I share your concerns about the downfall in the world economy and plight of those who are losing their jobs due to such developments. The news about the Iranian Twins was sad, however it is was the risk they decided to take. I think it was very brave of them to decide to go ahead with the surgery when they knew about the chances of failure. Anyway.. thanks for your post once again, and hope to hear from you again.

hello guys, erm since this is my very first posting, i'd like to start off with events of my native country! I am from Singapore. Well, too many things have been happening around the region as well as in the world economy and its really kinda saddening to know that ppl out there lose jobs --> it cld be their only rice bowl of survival! :( but alas the world is still moving.... who can stop it ah ...
amongst, the financial and business reviews, we also shared the limelight of a historic operation that went awfully wrong and broke many ardents hearts that hoped for a miracle for the Iranian Twins --> Ladin and Laleh .... of coz when i first heard bout how the 1st twin died, i was closed to tears but was hoping that the second one wld survive but given the biological factors and how they hv lived their 29 yrs of life tog, its really impossible to hv survived without the other!!! God Bless their souls for their bravery! Amidst the failure in our medical history, the local doctors made news again for separating another conjoined twins, this time from S. Korea. They were babies. They were conjoined at the lower back and were successfully separated and they are doing well now. Thats a piece of news that wld lift up our hearts amidst turbulence times....
so thats it from Singapore, The Lion City ....

Howdy fellows…? I’m here to whine about my day again. In fact not the whole day, but just my evening. I was talking to a couple of friends about FOOD today. Amarjot's talk of Chilli Chicken, Ginger Chicken, Parathas... which all reminded me of so many other things I always miss...! Then the conversation with Sonia and finally with Nikki...! They all made me feel so sad about myself, my life here..! Made me miss Indian food so much. So finally thought that I’ll cook the pumpkin that has been sitting in the fridge at home for about a week. This was obviously going to be one of the bravest decisions I’ve made lately. But as I expected, the results weren’t very encouraging.

I was cooking, and was watching the “State of Origin” match between the reds ‘n the blues at the same time. This was the first time ever I watched a whole Rugby game with such an interest. But I guess two new experiences at once didn’t work too well together. My curry was burnt at the bottom of the Pressure Cooker coz the steam was leaking somehow. And the taste… ammm.. let’s just say that I decided to throw the whole thing away. Now I’m sitting here thinking if it would’ve been better to just pick up a pizza. I would have enjoyed the game and would’ve fed myself nicely at the same time. What a waste..!

Your comments are invited on everything except my cooking.

Balraj - I understand what happened last night. I'm sorry if your friends felt out of place or uncomfortable at my party. As you know, I have friends from all walks of life so it is difficult to please everybody. I do, however, agree with you in that your friends should have at least told you what was happening, rather than doing what they did. Please dont apologise for last night and leaving early etc. Now that I know whar happened, I totally understand and if I were in that position, I would have done exactly the same thing. The fact that you showed up is enough for me! I hope you enjoyed yourself even if you were there for a short time.

Anyway, enough of that. I love my present! It's the best present - honest. It's funny how well you know me and what I like. I love the fact that you put so much thought and effort into it (showing off your true creativity).

OK thats it for now and probably for a while. You know how good I am with keeping diaries.
Ciao for now

Hello people. The night is over, and I am managing my anger better than last night now. Nikki, I hope you had a great time last night. I know you were looking forward to the party. Sorry for leaving early. I wish I could stay longer, but if you’ve read the last post, you probably know why I left early. I hope you like the present.

Ammm… what else can I say. I’m really bored. I’m getting bored of living by myself now. Big Brother is still at the police academy. It’s fun for a little while, but eventually you start getting sick of yourself. But hey… don’t you guys now start giving me that crap about marriage. I don’t think getting married is a solution for my problem. Brother will be back next month, and till then, I think I can survive the self-destructive side of me.

And Sim, thanks for calling me this morning. It was nice to hear from you. I was serious that your voice sounds a bit child like… it’s really cute. Sorry if I bored you too much though. It was basically coz I had just woken up after only about 3 hours of sleep. So couldn’t think much.

One disappointing day:

Thanks for making my day Amit. And don’t tell me you don’t like me putting this up here on this site. Of course I do not like to be ditched the way you guys did today. And don’t even try to blame alcohol for all that. You know that I believe that we are still responsible for our actions no matter how drunk we are. I know why you did what you did. But you were simply wrong in thinking that it was my friend’s b’day party and you could leave me there like that. No matter what party it was Amit, all you had to do was to tell me that you guys didn’t want to be there. I would’ve left any party for my friends man… But obviously you guys forgot that I still am an Indian man… still a Punjabi. I’m not IBCD enough to accept that my friends just left me like that. It takes a lot to get me this pissed off Amit, but also takes a while for me to cool down. So just deal with it if I’m not answering your or Gurpreet’s calls right now. I just want to calm myself down before I talk to you guys. Hope you guys had fun after all this tonight. Take care…

Not many would visit this page thinking they'll find something exciting to read. Well let me tell you about one of the most embarrassing moments in my life. Last Friday I was made to do a night shift (I don't normally do night shifts). The bank had two different functions and more than 200 people were attending. So they said they needed an experienced concierge who could deal with the pressure. The parties went the way they were supposed to, however I found a guy and a gal having sex on one of the floors. One would expect to find things like that after parties involving extensive use of alcohol, but one can never be prepared for such a moment. I avoided looking at them directly and simply told them to leave. But I seemed to be more embarrassed than they were. Well, that was one exciting but embarrassing moment. ammm… what else can I say. I think I'll leave it there… open for comments as usual.

Have fun people…!

News of the Day:
Qantas plane was evacuated in an emergency due to a fire caused by the breaks on landing at the Sydney Airport. What was worse was that one of the evacuation balloons collapsed in the middle. The experts think that it collapsed possibly after being punctured by shoe heel.

This accident is not my concern honestly. I’m worried what are we going to happen next? Are we going to have some of Bin Ladin’s men trying to hijack a plane with sharp pencil-heels of a woman’s shoes? After 9/11, they banned all knives and sharp things to be carried in hand luggage. I wonder if they are going to ban these high heel shoes next.
